A cut and paste activity for young students exploring shapes and patterns with the female programmer, Ada Lovelace.

⚙️Explore Patterns With the Amazing Ada Lovelace!

Learn about this fierce female mathematician, credited with creating the first computer program!

In this activity, students will identify 2-D shapes and colour them according to a key. Once students have coloured their shapes, they will cut them out and use them to complete patterns on a fun computer screen template. 

This task is wonderful to use as part of a Patterns and Algebra unit on repeating patterns.

In addition to individual student work time, use this activity as an in-class or homework task for International Women’s Day.

The cutting involved in this activity makes for fantastic fine motor practice! Strengthen their finger and hand muscles and improve hand-eye coordination as they work on their cutting skills.
