Challenge your students to make three-dimensional paper Christmas decorations with a STEM challenge.

Craft with a Paper Christmas Ornament Challenge

Get ready to bring a bit of challenge and Christmas spirit into your maths class with a Christmas Ornament Crafting Challenge project! Your students will love the challenge of turning each of the provided templates into a crafty and creative Christmas ornament.

Provide students with the instructions, planning and ornament templates before beginning. Provide them with printed materials, scissors, glue and set them to work. They will brainstorm, plan, sketch a schematic, complete the task and reflect on the process.

STEM Activities are Perfect for Building Collaborative Skills

During Christmas time, adding STEM-based activities to the classroom can increase the festive spirit and provide many educational benefits to students. The holiday season is a great opportunity to make learning more fun by infusing conventional subjects with amazement and originality. STEM activities such as building holiday-themed structures, creating festive technology projects, or exploring the science behind winter phenomena allow students to apply their learning in a fun, hands-on way. These activities help students develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and collective teamwork, which are essential parts of STEM education.

In addition to STEM learning, through this activity, students will:

  • Exercise critical thinking skills
  • Explore creativity
  • Strengthen verbal and motor skills
  • Consider cause and effect, and
  • Have fun!
